- The right platform depends first on who will do the work: a managed service, an in-house operator with a toolkit, or a sales team that only needs data.
- For UK finance firms, judge every option on PECR handling, UK-specific buying signals such as Companies House charges, and deliverability before AI features.
- Data tools like Cognism and Apollo find contacts, sending tools like Instantly deliver email, and neither does the research, copy or compliance for you.
- Wealth-adviser tools built around individual wealth events suit warm introductions more than cold email, because emailing individuals in the UK generally needs consent.
- Rept is our own managed service and has trade-offs too: you do not own the tooling and it covers email and LinkedIn only.
For most UK financial services firms, the best option depends on who will actually run the outbound: a managed service like Rept if you have no outbound team, Clay paired with a sending tool if you have a capable operator in-house, and Cognism or Apollo if you mainly need contact data. Whatever you choose, judge it on PECR handling, UK-specific buying signals and deliverability before you look at the AI features.
Most lists of AI outreach platforms are written for US SaaS sales teams. They rank tools on database size and how many integrations they have. That is the wrong lens for a commercial finance broker, a debt recovery firm or a payments business selling to UK SMEs. Below is a ranking built around what matters when you are regulated, selling into British companies and protecting a sending domain you rely on.
How we ranked them
We scored each option against six questions.
- Who does the work? Someone has to map the market, research accounts, write copy, manage inboxes and handle replies. A tool does none of that on its own.
- UK buying signals. Can it target on signals that matter in UK finance, such as Companies House charges, filed accounts, funding rounds and sales hiring, rather than just job title and headcount?
- Compliance handling. Does it support corporate-subscriber targeting under PECR, opt-outs, suppression lists and copy that stays clear of financial promotions? The stakes are higher now: under the Data (Use and Access) Act the ICO can fine PECR breaches up to £17.5 million or 4% of global turnover, whichever is higher. The previous maximum was £500,000.
- Deliverability. Since February 2024 Google requires anyone sending 5,000+ emails a day to Gmail to have SPF, DKIM and DMARC, one-click unsubscribe and a spam complaint rate under 0.3% (Google sender guidelines). Microsoft introduced the same requirements for Outlook in May 2025. How a platform protects your domain matters more than how clever its AI writing is.
- UK data coverage. Directors of a 20-person haulage firm in Leeds are not the same audience as VPs at a San Francisco software company.
- Total cost. Licence fees plus the salary of whoever runs it.
1. Rept: fully managed, signal-triggered outbound (our own service)
This is our service, so read this section with that in mind. We have judged it by the same criteria as everything else.
What it is. A fully managed outbound service across cold email and LinkedIn, built only for UK financial services firms: commercial finance brokers and lenders, debt recovery, fintech and payments, wealth and insurance. We map your target market, research every company for signals, write each email from that research, send from separate warmed-up domains and hand interested replies to you.
We track ten buying signals: sales hiring, job-posting surges, funding rounds, Companies House charges, filed accounts, new paid advertising, leadership hires, market expansion, tech-stack changes and industry news. Compliance is built in: corporate-subscriber targeting under PECR, an opt-out on every email, a legitimate interests assessment on file, permanent suppression lists and no financial promotions in cold email.
Track record. Across 150+ financial services clients we have generated 100,000+ high-intent leads, with a 29.4% average positive reply rate. WSC Finance has had 156,800+ emails sent, a 25.6% positive reply rate and 243 qualified opportunities since July 2025. These are past figures, not a forecast. Your results depend on your offer, your market and how quickly you follow up.
Pricing. Growth is £1,350 + VAT a month and Enterprise is £2,500 + VAT a month, with an £80 onboarding fee. It is month to month and campaigns launch within 14 days.
Who it suits. Founders and heads of growth at finance firms with no dedicated outbound person, or a sales team that wants qualified conversations without building the machine.
Trade-offs. You do not own the tooling or build the skill in-house. It covers email and LinkedIn only, so there is no cold calling. If you already employ an experienced outbound operator, a tool stack may cost you less.
2. Clay plus a sending tool
What it is. A data enrichment and workflow platform that combines many data sources and uses AI to research accounts and draft personalised lines. Most teams pair it with a separate sending platform.
Who it suits. Firms with a technical growth operator who enjoys building workflows. If you want to target, say, UK companies that recently registered a charge and are hiring in finance, Clay can be configured to find them.
Trade-offs. Someone has to build it, maintain it and fix it when a data source changes. UK-specific signals need setting up rather than being ready out of the box. Check how costs scale as your volume grows. Compliance and deliverability remain entirely your job.
3. Cognism
What it is. A B2B contact data provider with a strong focus on UK and European coverage and a compliance-conscious approach to data.
Who it suits. UK sales teams that already have a sending process and people to run it, and need reliable contact details for decision-makers, including phone numbers for teams that call.
Trade-offs. It gives you data, not a campaign. You still need research, copy, sending infrastructure and reply handling. Its intent data is general B2B intent, so finance-specific triggers will usually need adding on top.
4. Apollo
What it is. An all-in-one platform combining a large B2B contact database with sequencing and AI email writing, at accessible entry pricing.
Who it suits. Small teams and founders testing outbound for the first time who want to find contacts and send from one place.
Trade-offs. It is a generalist database. Before you commit, test its accuracy on a sample of your real UK audience, such as owner-managed SMEs, and compare it with what Companies House tells you. It is easy to send a lot of email from your main domain, which is where deliverability problems start. Targeting, PECR checks and copy approval are on you.
5. Instantly
What it is. A cold email sending platform built for volume, with multiple inboxes, warm-up and campaign management, plus lead data features.
Who it suits. Teams that already know who they are targeting and what to say, and need infrastructure to send at scale across several domains.
Trade-offs. Volume tools make it easy to send too much generic email, which is exactly what pushes complaint rates towards the Google and Microsoft thresholds. It does not research your prospects for buying signals or review your copy for compliance. Pair it with good data and a disciplined operator, or it becomes a fast way to burn domains.
6. Outreach and Salesloft
What it is. Enterprise sales engagement platforms for running sequences, tasks and calls across large sales teams, connected to your CRM.
Who it suits. Banks, larger lenders, insurers and payment companies with SDR teams, Salesforce and a revenue operations function.
Trade-offs. They are built to run activity on contacts you already have, not to find UK SMEs showing buying signals. Implementation takes time and budget. For a 10-person broker they are usually more than you need.
7. LinkedIn Sales Navigator
What it is. LinkedIn's prospecting tool for finding and researching decision-makers, with lead and account recommendations.
Who it suits. Anyone selling to senior people, particularly in wealth, insurance and fintech partnerships, where LinkedIn is where relationships start.
Trade-offs. It is largely manual. LinkedIn limits how much activity an account can safely do. It does not send email, and coverage of smaller UK firms whose directors are not active on LinkedIn can be thin.
8. Aidentified, Catchlight and WealthFeed
What they are. Prospecting tools for financial advisers, built around individual wealth events, relationship mapping and predictive scoring.
Who they suit. Advisers and wealth managers prospecting private clients, especially through warm introductions.
Trade-offs. They focus on individuals, not companies. In the UK, emailing individuals for marketing generally needs consent under PECR, and sole traders and many partnerships are treated as individuals too. These tools therefore fit introduction and referral routes better than cold email. Check UK data coverage before you buy.
Which one should you pick?
| Your situation | Best fit |
|---|---|
| No outbound team, want qualified conversations | Managed service such as Rept |
| Technical operator in-house, want full control | Clay plus a sending tool |
| Sales team in place, need UK contact data | Cognism |
| Founder testing outbound on a small budget | Apollo |
| Clear targeting and copy, need sending at scale | Instantly |
| Large enterprise sales team on Salesforce | Outreach or Salesloft |
| Advisers prospecting private clients | Aidentified, Catchlight or WealthFeed, via warm routes |
A few rules apply whichever you choose.
- Never send cold email from your main domain. Use separate, warmed-up domains so a bad week does not stop your client emails landing.
- Target on signals, not just titles. A company that has just registered a charge or filed accounts showing growth has a reason to talk now. We cover how to spot these in how to find high-intent SME borrowers.
- Keep financial promotions out of cold email. Describe what you do and ask a question. Let the conversation and your compliance process handle the rest.
- Do the maths before you buy. Licences are the small cost. The person running them is the big one. Our breakdown of the real maths behind B2B financial services outbound walks through it.
AI writing is the least important part of the decision. The firms that get good results have the targeting, compliance and deliverability right first.
At Rept we run this for you end to end: we research every UK company for the ten buying signals, write each email from that research, send from separate warmed-up domains and pass interested replies straight to your team.
